Directions to Robertson House
Robertson House is the large, flat roofed Georgian building on Greenhill St. It is beside the free church and along from the Corntown Garage. Take care if driving into the carpark as you need to come over a lowered bollard. There is a sign on the front of the building that reads ‘Sight Action’.

If you are unsure of the level you are currently at, get in touch with our Community Engagement Officer, Tj, who can help advise you on the appropriate class. Email Tj at tj.bawden@feisrois.org

If you would like to join the waiting list for any of the classes that are currently fully booked, please email Ti at tj.bawden@feisrois.org

Our youth classes are for children of Primary 4 age and upwards.

We want to make sure that you have all the information you need before your child starts a class here at Fèis Rois. If you don’t find the information you are looking for below then please contact our Community Engagement Officer.

A big part of the Fèis Rois weekly class programme is to help support young people to build their confidence. We offer a small number of one-to-one sessions for young people who, for whatever reason, are unable to take part in a group class. Get in touch with our Community Engagement Officer to find out more.

We will be having an end of term celebration on Thursday 23rd June. Family and friends are invited to come along to listen to the classes performing, and join in with some ceilidh dancing!

How much do classes cost?

Term ONE | £48 youth / £54 adults
Term TWO | £64 youth / £72 adults
Term THREE | £80 youth / £90 adults
Term FOUR | £80 youth / £90 adults

Our classes are open to everyone and we endeavour to be as flexible as we can; please contact our Community Engagement Officer , Tj, if you have any queries or questions about our pricing structure.

Can I just turn up?

No. It’s important that we have all your emergency contact details and any information regarding special circumstances and additional support needs before your child joins our classes. If we don’t have this information we can’t accept your child in the class.

I don’t have my own instrument, does that matter?

Absolutely not! We are offering free instrument hire this term. Fèis Rois has an instrument bank of around 100 instruments. Find out more about instrument hire.

Level Guide

  • Beginners – you will be completely new to this instrument.
  • Improvers – you will have been playing for 6 – 12 months and have a basic understanding of technique and a few tunes under your belt.
  • Intermediate – you will have been playing for 1 – 2 years and know a good number of tunes, songs, dances or steps.
  • Advanced – you will have been playing for a minimum of 2 years and have a good grasp of your instrument. You will know different kinds of tunes, dances, songs or steps. You will be starting to use Gracenotes.

Whether you are starting from scratch or polishing your skills, we have well respected musicians on hand to help you in a relaxed and fun environment. Everyone is welcome at our classes and if you can’t find something suitable for you, then get in touch and we’ll see if we can help.

We also have some sessions available if you’d prefer to play tunes rather than learn in a more structured class environment.

We will be holding an informal Christmas session on 13th December at Tulloch Castle in Dingwall for our adult classes. A chance to play through some tunes and enjoy a mince pie, or two!
