Strathglass Early Years Project
Over a period of 16 weeks, six nursery–P2 classes in the rural Strathglass area worked with professional storyteller and Scots singer Lilian Ross, as well as a professional traditional musician.
They delivered an exciting intergenerational project which features story, music and art, and resulted in local performances within the community.
Through active workshops the children used these art forms as a tool to explore themes around the environment, culture and heritage within their local community.
Members of the community, particularly the elderly, were invited to share local folklore and personal experiences with the young people and this was used as inspiration throughout the project. Parents and local community members were also invited to share their skills and to get involved in the project.
This project was made possible through generous funding from Soirbheas, Tasgadh and the participating schools.
